Humber Design Group, Inc. (“HDG”) has two immediate openings on our Portland, Oregon team. Part-time or full-time arrangements accepted.

Immediate Opening for Civil Engineering Project Designer

Responsibilities include:
– Drafting plans and drawings for construction from rough or detailed sketches; making adjustments or changes
– Developing detailed drawings for construction of civil engineering site improvements
– Coordinating the collection of data and incorporating information, including topographical surveys and geographical reports, into drawings, maps, and other drafting documentation
– modifying drawings based on redlines, markups, field notes, and other instructions; verifying data for accuracy and performing quality control
– Retrieving applicable jurisdictional data from various sites to ensure drawings incorporate the latest standards
– Providing additional engineering support services as needed under the direct supervision of an engineer
– Maintaining project drawing files, associated records, and documentation; maintaining schedules, meeting deadlines

Qualifications:
– Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
– Must have the ability to read, interpret, and draft new and modify existing AutoCAD drawings
– Must have a keen eye and attention to detail with a strong service orientation toward helping others
– Knowledge and experience in computer-aided drafting principles, standards, and techniques required
– BSCE required (in process acceptable)
– Proficiency in AutoCAD 2016 and Civil 3D (strongly preferred), proficiency in Microsoft Office
– Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to collaborate with other team members
– Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and as part of a team

Immediate Opening for Civil Project Engineer

Responsibilities include:
– Plan, administer, and design civil engineering projects
– Develop technical calculations, reports, site design, and public street frontage improvement construction drawings
– Maintain relationships with clients, develop future opportunities; network with clients, agency personnel, and colleagues to build/maintain professional network; participate in professional organizations and functions
– Attend meetings and coordinate project design/requirements with multi-disciplinary teams and with client; coordinate AutoCAD drafting requirements in support of civil engineering design process with other in-house team members, as well as outside sub-consultants
– Coordinate internal office manpower needs with other project managers
– Help manage engineering interns, manage design staff as lead engineer on project tasks
– Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met
– Estimate/budget man-hours for design projects; review job costing reports for postings, utilization of staff
– Work with other engineering staff to develop plans, specifications, and reports
– Provide thorough on-going QA/QC review of deliverables
– Perform site and infrastructure design per city/county standards and maintain good communication with the planning/engineering staff of the jurisdiction to minimize future changes and misunderstandings
– Conduct and coordinate periodic site visits to construction sites to monitor quality and work progress
– Prepare and manage project correspondence and documentation
– Additional responsibilities as needed to help clients and team succeed

Qualifications:
–¬†BSCE required; Oregon PE required; licenses in other states a plus
– Five plus years hands-on civil engineering site design experience including roads, erosion control, grading, drainage, sewer, water, stormwater management, and conveyance and franchise utilities
– Solid understanding of civil design and construction standards, and environmental conditions and constraints
– Preferred past experience working on private site development projects that require working within an architecturally led consultant team
– Working knowledge of building, plumbing, and fire codes, and accessibility standards
– Excellent technical capabilities, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability
– Strong oral and written communication skills
– MUST BE proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office
– Must possess a proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets
– Demonstrated skills developing relationships with architects, development companies, municipal, county, and state agencies in support of civil site projects

– Ability to work quickly and manage multiple priorities
