Joel Hill, EI
A Project Designer at Humber Design Group, Joel’s responsibilities include communication with clients and team members, drawing set up, project design and coordination, stormwater calculations and design, and report writing. Joel’s civil design work focuses on architecturally lead urban site development, including HUD-funded projects and work with National Oceanic Atmospheric Association (NOAA) Slopes-V requirements. He is proficient in Civil 3D as well as stormwater design utilizing HydroCAD.
Before joining Humber Design, Joel worked on the public side for the University of Minnesota completing civil utility management, overseeing and maintain all utility systems for the University, including inspections, new installation needs, and upgrades to existing systems. He also spent two years in private development doing large suburban site developments, infrastructure work for the oil industry, and work on the Viking Stadium remodel. Joel is an Eagle Scout and a former collegiate wrestler. He received his BSCE from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and holds his Engineering Intern Certification.

Joel truly enjoys the inner office collegiality and larger design team relationships that come with being a project designer at Humber Design Group. In his personal time, Joel enjoys bicycling, urban exploration, and downhill longboard racing. He also enjoys hiking, camping, and road trips exploring all that the U.S. has to offer.
