With almost no structural base under the existing road, Douglas Loop had become cracked, worn, and well beyond its design life. Replacement was necessary and was completed using a modified version of Full Depth Reclamation (“FDR”), which does not require as much haul off and import of soil and rock as more traditional methods.
Replacement of the NE and NW quadrants was completed in two phases to allow continued access to the campus. Work was completed over the summer in time for the start of school in the fall. The new road has a 40-year design life.
