Dave Humber, PE, LEED AP
A licensed Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited Professional, Dave has more than 30 years of experience in the civil engineering and re-engineering of all types and sizes of properties throughout the Northwest. His specialization is working within the constraints of an existing site and determining the most efficient method of redevelopment and renovation to best accommodate proposed improvements while ensuring that all project pieces integrate. He is an expert at the review, design, and cut-and-patch of infrastructure facilities, grading, vehicular/pedestrian circulation routes, drainage, and other site elements.
In his work, Dave emphasizes the importance of identifying as many potential site challenges and development constraints as possible at the onset of a project to avoid the large spectrum of costly surprises that could otherwise arise later. His focus is to successfully get through permitting agencies efficiently and effectively with minimal corrections by providing consistent, dependable, knowledgeable design with little to no surprises. He also makes a point to meet occasionally with our jurisdictional partners to ensure that our designs are in conformance.
Dave founded Humber Design Group in 2014 under the premise that first and foremost, we are a resource to our clients. Whether we are identifying challenges or designing solutions, our focus is on excellent civil engineering that solves client problems. In addition to managing Humber Design as a business and leading the firm’s management team, Dave’s role as Principal includes time with team members and clients talking through project pitfalls, evaluating jurisdictional requirements, connecting resources, preparing feasibility and conceptual designs, mentoring, and working on various design challenges.
Dave believes it is important to be involved in the design community, and he actively engages in committees and organizations that are a part of developing our future. He currently volunteers his time and technical knowledge to two development committees.
Dave received his BSCE from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he was a member of the men’s swimming team.
